Diabetes Australia aims to ensure easy access to and supply of products, information and services to people registered with the NDSS throughout Australia. To achieve this, and inline with the NDSS Head Agreement, Diabetes Australia subcontracts the provision of these services to Agents.
Diabetes Australia has established a network of state-based Agents to assist in the delivery of the NDSS. Currently, all state and territory diabetes organisations are NDSS Agents.
Two health professional body Agents, Australian Diabetes Society and the Australian Diabetes Educators Association, provide services to the NDSS. These organisations draw upon the wide range of expertise of their membership to provide the best possible clinical, scientific and strategic advice to inform the development and delivery of the Scheme.
What is a state/territory NDSS Agent?
Agents are the state and territory diabetes organisations which have signed the NDSS Agent’s Agreement with Diabetes Australia.
An Agent ensures the smooth delivery of products to Registrants through the following ways:
- by phone
- by mail
- by email
- by fax
- at Agent shop fronts
- at NDSS Access Points
Agents also provide a range of information and support services to Registrants to assist them in the management of their diabetes. Information and support services include access to information, advice on and response to requests from Registrants for information on the appropriate use of Products and general information on the self-management of diabetes.
