The National Gestational Diabetes Register was established within the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) to help women who have had gestational diabetes to manage their health into the future.
Registration with the National Gestational Diabetes Register is free. Women who have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes, reside in Australia and hold or are eligible to hold an Australian Medicare Card are entitled to register.
How does the National Gestational Diabetes Register work?
At the time of NDSS Registration
At the time of NDSS Registration you will be registered on the National Gestational Diabetes Register. To register with the NDSS and the National Gestational Diabetes Register please fill out this form. Upon registration you will be sent the booklet Gestational Diabetes – Caring for yourself and your baby.
After the birth of your baby
After the birth of your baby you will be sent the Life after Gestational Diabetes booklet with a reminder letter to visit a GP for a Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT)
Follow up reminders
Annual reminders will be sent to you and your GP to have a screening test for type 2 diabetes.
